Hello beautiful brides! For our very first Blog Post it seems only natural to write about our very first event. I hope it will be the first of many events we will feature on our Blog!
Roxy and I really got our start when I asked her to help me with my crazy idea to have chalk signs at my wedding. It was an emerging trend and the venue I selected was a sprawling garden just begging for some signage.
Roxy, a few bridesmaids, my sweet sister, and I all got together one afternoon a few weeks before my wedding to work on my crazy sign project. It was a frenzy of designing, painting, hammering, and ribbon cutting. In the end, the signs were created but I did not get to see the finished product, with Roxy’s jaw dropping calligraphy, until the wedding day itself.
My incredible husband, Sean, and I finally tied the knot at The Denver Botanical Gardens at Chatfield in Littleton, Colorado on June 6th 2014 which, not so coincidentally, was where we had our first date six years to the date of our wedding day. We are, as you can see, complete hopeless romantics.
As high school sweethearts, Sean and I had a long, long time to dream about our wedding; yet, the single thing that most influenced our event design was the time I spent as an intern for my sweet friend, Sarah Chancey, with Chancey Charm. I longed for an outdoor wedding with just a hint of southern charm.
Through my internship and my own planning process, I realized just how needed a wedding coordinator is. They are the advocate and cheerleader for the bride’s vision. From this, my passion for doing just that came to life and on our wedding day my husband made a comment I will never forget; “Wow,” He said while admiring one of our signs “you could really make a business creating signs like this for other brides.” And so B&Y was born.
The signs were a real hit, not only in Sean’s eyes but our guests as well, and the wedding ended up being more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.
I would like to take a moment to thank all of our incredible vendors particularly Encore Photography for all of the stunning images you see here and Melanie Fenwick for our wedding video which I cherish. Other vendors include: The Gardner Effect, Iconic Flowers and Events, Occasions Catering, Emma and Grace Bridal Studio, A Vintage Affair, Event Rents, and Paper Snaps. Be on the lookout for more posts featuring some of these wonderful vendors!
Until next time...
